# Post-Generative > A concept for our present: Everyday life permeated by generative AI. Post-generative describes a societal condition in which generative artificial intelligence permeates everyday life. It shapes how people work, learn, communicate, design and produce knowledge. Its outputs enter the information, tools and environments we encounter every day, affecting even those who do not consciously use it. Human and machine contributions become intertwined and increasingly difficult to distinguish. AI outputs are increasingly adopted or passed on without people reviewing them individually. The volume and speed of generation can overwhelm human oversight. At the same time, new dependencies emerge: whoever controls AI systems shapes access to knowledge and participation. Drawing on the idea of the post-digital, the post-generative describes a world already transformed by generative AI, whose possibilities, expectations and conflicts it helps to shape. What once required extensive programming skills is becoming increasingly accessible through so-called vibe coding. - [Thinking alone becomes a design decision](https://postgenerative.at/indications/2026-10-24/thinking-alone-becomes-a-design-decision.md): In collaborative teaching methods, AI access becomes a phase-by-phase design choice. Students from three degree programmes endorse a deliberately AI-free thinking phase in Think-Pair-Share. - [Found by a Machine](https://postgenerative.at/indications/2026-10-23/found-by-a-machine.md): The most serious PHP flaw in over a decade was discovered not by a hacker but by an AI model: OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol. Websites worldwide, including the University of Vienna and TU Wien, went offline as a precaution. - [When machines teach and learn](https://postgenerative.at/indications/2026-10-22/when-machines-teach-and-learn.md): A philosophical paper questions the automation of higher education through generative AI. - [AI Delivers the Final Farewell](https://postgenerative.at/indications/2026-10-21/ai-delivers-the-final-farewell.md): Even the final farewell is becoming a use case for generative AI. A Graz-based start-up is developing AI-generated funeral speeches, including an avatar of Vienna's cathedral priest Toni Faber. - [An Answer in Seconds, Training on an Unimaginable Scale](https://postgenerative.at/indications/2026-10-20/an-answer-in-seconds-training-on-an-unimaginable-scale.md): A question to AI is asked quickly, and the answer arrives just as fast. The scale of the effort behind this everyday experience usually remains invisible. - [When AI Code No Longer Needs a Label](https://postgenerative.at/indications/2026-10-19/when-ai-code-no-longer-needs-a-label.md): Linux kernel development is moving away from the mandatory labelling of AI-assisted contributions. AI is evidently already so widespread in everyday programming that the existing notice hardly carries any informative value anymore. - [When the Master's Thesis Topics Have Already Been Written](https://postgenerative.at/indications/2026-10-18/when-the-master-s-thesis-topics-have-already-been-written.md): A student requests two master's thesis topics that were completed long ago. An AI may lie behind this, suggesting old theses as new topics. Accepted without verification, the suggestions produce a peculiar everyday situation. - [Tagesschau Reports on AI Bands, Labelling and the Copyright Dispute](https://postgenerative.at/indications/2026-10-17/tagesschau-reports-on-ai-bands-labelling-and-the-copyright.md): The Tagesschau shows how AI-generated music is flooding streaming services and why platforms are now introducing labels. The interview covers GEMA's legal victory against Suno, AI bands such as The Velvet Sundown, and the question of what music without a human creative process still is. - [When AI No Longer Just Answers, but Acts](https://postgenerative.at/indications/2026-10-16/when-ai-no-longer-just-answers-but-acts.md): An experiment by ProjectDiscovery shows how a manipulated AI model can trigger hidden actions through an inconspicuous word sequence. This places trust, permissions and the scope for action of AI agents at the center of attention. - [My Messages Are Not Read by Me](https://postgenerative.at/indications/2026-10-15/my-messages-are-not-read-by-me.md): Anyone who gives AI agents access to their inbox also opens up other people's messages to them. Whether our communication is analyzed by AI thus increasingly depends on decisions that others make on our behalf. - [I wanna discover things too](https://postgenerative.at/indications/2026-10-14/i-wanna-discover-things-too.md): Steven Strogatz talks about the desire to discover something oneself when AI takes over mathematical research.
