Privacy policy
This website is created in Austria; the following Austrian laws apply.
1. Principle
The protection of your data is a particular concern for us. We therefore process your data exclusively on the basis of the statutory provisions (GDPR, Austrian Telecommunications Act TKG). In this privacy information we inform you about the most important aspects of data processing on our website.
2. Purpose and legal basis of processing
When you visit our website, your IP address and the start and end of the session are recorded for the duration of that session. This is technically necessary and therefore constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Unless otherwise stated below, we do not process this data further.
3. Access statistics
We count page views without cookies and without third parties. For each request the server logs, among other things, the time, the address requested, the referrer, the browser identifier and the IP address. The logs are evaluated at night: the IP address is replaced by a value derived with a daily changing random value (pseudonymisation); this random value is deleted after seven days. Raw logs containing IP addresses are deleted after seven days. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4. Contributions and email
When you submit an indication, we store your texts, images, the name given for the credit and the time you agreed to the CC BY 4.0 licence. An email address is optional; we use it only to inform you about the status of your contribution, never publish it and delete it 30 days after the decision. Emails are sent via an SMTP server. Image metadata (e.g. location, camera data) is removed on upload. The legal basis is your consent and the handling of your request (Art. 6(1)(a) and (b) GDPR).
5. Comments
The same applies to comments: the name is published with the comment, an email address is optional and never published. Comments are reviewed before publication.
6. Spam protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)
To protect our forms against automated submissions we use Cloudflare Turnstile (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). Turnstile is only loaded when you click “Load spam protection”. Technical data from your browser (including your IP address) is then transmitted to Cloudflare, including to the USA. The legal basis is your consent by clicking (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in preventing abuse. More information: Cloudflare privacy policy.
7. Embedded content (YouTube, Instagram, X, LinkedIn)
Some contributions embed videos from YouTube or posts from Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) or LinkedIn. When the page loads, only a placeholder is shown; there is no connection to these services yet. Only when you click “Load video” or “Load post” is the content loaded from the provider. Technical data from your browser (including your IP address and the page visited) is then transmitted to the provider, including to the USA, and the provider may set cookies. YouTube videos are embedded in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). The providers are Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (YouTube) and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, D04 X2K5, Ireland (Instagram), Twitter International Unlimited Company, One Cumberland Place, Fenian Street, Dublin 2, D02 AX07, Ireland (X) and LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Plaza, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland (LinkedIn). Posts from X are embedded with the “Do Not Track” option. The legal basis is your consent by clicking (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR); it applies only to that one item and is not stored. More information: Google privacy policy, Instagram privacy policy, X privacy policy, LinkedIn privacy policy.
8. Your rights
You have the right to access, erasure, rectification, restriction of processing, data portability and to object to the processing of your data. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority, Wickenburggasse 8, 1080 Vienna (dsb@dsb.gv.at).
The controller within the meaning of Article 4(7) GDPR is Dr.techn. Benedikt Brünner, MEd BEd. For data protection matters or to exercise your rights as a data subject, please contact redaktion@postgenerativ.at.
